I have a Live Gamer HD 2 that I've had for a while. Worked fine until upgrading my PC. Is there a way to play in 1080p120fps with the PS5 using the Live Gamer Extreme 2 (GC551)? Hi, I'm getting audio cutting/skipping while using the Avermedia Extreme Cap u3. I've tried a few different drivers and currently are on - 3.0.64.118.
Avermedia Live Gamer Extreme 2 Mac Pro
Avermedia Live Gamer Extreme 2 Mac Os
OBS ver 23.1.0
32GB Ram
Asus X99-A II Motherboard
i7-6850K 3.60ghz
Intel 600p 256GB SSD
GTX 1080
Win10 64-bit
OBS ver 23.1.0
I havent streamed using consoles in a while but wanted to start streaming some things on xbox / switch / ps4 laterly. However, For some reason the AVerMedia GC551 Video Capture device just shows a black screen in OBS despite displaying perfectly on my TV with no cut outs. I provided a screenshot of what obs looks like when i boot it up while my capture device is plugged in.
If I unplug and re insert the GC511 capture device's USB into my PC while obs is running, then I click deactivate and re activate under the properties for the GC511 under my soruces, then it shows up in obs as it should capturing my gameplay. However after about 30 seconds to a minute(sometimes just 10 seconds) the video feed just freezes in obs :( Is there some issue with windows 10 or the new obs build with the live gamer extreme 2(GC551) ? it has been a good couple months since I streamed a non PC game so maybe something happened during that time?
Also if i leave the capture device source active during this screen freeze and try to access its properties under sources, obs goes non responsive all together. I provided another screenshot of when this happened. When I click 'close program' instead of waiting for it respond it just hangs forever until I kill it in task manager. and for whatever reason no new crash reports are created when i kill the program. my last crash report is from 2019-04-05 despite having several times tonight having obs go non responsive needing to be killed in task manager.
This log was taken just now, OBS is currently showing a frozen frame of what i was doing on the xbox one dashboard, however OBS has not locked up yet because I havent tried to right click properties the GC511 source yet. I uploaded this log before posting this thread just now. about 4 minutes or more have passed and obs is still displaying a frozen frame of what i was capturing, i can still freely disable and re enable the capture device source, i can flip back and fourth between scenes, but i know if i click properties for the capture device source, obs will hard lock again.
I just cant understand what is going wrong :(
**EDIT**
I just ran the avermedia diagnostic tool and ran the 'diagnose platform to see if your device can use the capture device or not' option. it said both my 3.0 usb port and 3.1 is compatible with the device.
HOWEVER when i ran the 'diagnose speed to analyze 3.0 port speed' option, it said no resolution suported -_- this is so infuriating because i already streamed flawleslly with this capture device for so many months before why is this happening?
I included screenshots of what I just talked about in this edit.
**EDIT 2**
After hours of more troubleshooting.. i feel very stupid. I may have fixed the issue. All I did was simply create a brand new source for the live gamer extreme 2.. and it seems to be functioning normally under this new source. will update in a couple hours to see if it freezes but if it doesnt im going to feel very stupid lol. I guess after all the driver updates that happened in the past months since last using this device, the old source somehow became corrupted? is that even possible?
** EDIT 3**
Well I successfully did an entire stream without any issue. I guess it is possible for a source to some how get messed up if you havent used it in a while and it deals with external devices that might have different drivers down the line. The solution to all of this was simply making a brand new source for the capture device -_- I feel so dumb lol
